Tatra balloon production

These days, our new balloon is being created, which will fly in the vicinity of the High Tatras, and we have the opportunity to watch its birth directly in production. Our balloon is produced by the renowned Czech manufacturer Kubíček Balloons, one of the world's leading manufacturers of hot air balloons.

The envelope of the balloon is made of hundreds of precisely cut panels of a special polyester fabric with temperature resistance up to around 120 °C. The individual panels are connected by high-strength seams, which must withstand not only the weight of the balloon, but also the dynamic load during flight and landing. The resulting shell has a volume of approximately 13,000 m³, which means that when the air inside is heated to a higher temperature, sufficient buoyancy is created to lift the entire system - basket, passengers and equipment. The shell itself weighs approximately 356 kg.

The K80 basket for 24 people is hand-woven from natural rattan, which is used precisely for its ideal mechanical properties - it is strong, yet flexible, which allows it to absorb energy during landing without damaging the structure. The basket is divided into several separate cubicles, which ensures an even distribution of weight and greater passenger comfort.

It is fascinating to watch how a balloon is gradually born from the individual parts, which will soon carry our passengers in the Tatra region. Soon, this balloon will be filled with hot air for the first time and set off on its first journey over Poprad with views of the High Tatras.
